English Beat and Fishbone

I know how in the past I have written about my favorite band in the whole wide world: "English Beat". They are in Colorado this weekend with Fishbone.

Ths weekend I get the pleasure of seeing them not once, but twice. Tomorrow in Denver, Sunday in Aspen. To make the deal sweeter, thanks to my old school friend Meaghan, who has connections, we are on the guest list and full back stage access. I will be the girl with the perma grin all weekend long.

I promise to post a full report once I come out of my euphoric state.

Also, if I meet Dave Wakeling, I just may explode. Just throwing that out as a forewarning to the world.

Big Girl Shoes

I am afraid (for my brother and sister-in-law) my niece is a fashionista in the making.

Every time Aunt Tanya comes over there is a game of "Shoes and Jewelry inspection"

Now if I wear cheap shoes, lets say Chuck Taylor converse, my oldest niece could care less. However, the Coach tennis shoes get much more attention.

How does an almost 5 year old know the difference? She does.

Here is pictures from my most recent visit.

(Notice the leaning against the wall for stability.)

Manolo Blahnik. Oh, these sent off sirens when I walked in the door.

Girl has great taste!

And small feet

Her sister isn't so interested in the shoes, but more so if she can play with my camera.

This picture was her direction:

"now YOU put your shoes on and I take picture"

The English Beat!

Tonight I get to go see one of my all time favorite bands play in Denver.

How much do I love them? In 1991, before tattoos were cool or even very socially acceptable, I got the "Beat girl" tattooed on my ankle.

My mother cried. (no joke--but that is another story entirely!)

Ogden Theater
Tonight, 8pm.

YUM!

Last summer Bristol Brewing introduced Cheyenne Canon Pinon Nut Ale. Not only was it delicious but I was so busy drinking it I forgot to stock up on it for the time when there would be no more. Then fall rolled around and the ale ran out.

I was sad

I was sadder than sad, my new favorite beer was gone, and I forgot to stock up.

Now it is back!!!

Happy again I am

(I read WAY too much Dr. Seuss)

Seriously though, do yourself a favor, if you live locally, pick yourself up a bottle. You won’t regret it. If you don't live locally, you may bribe me to buy you some, but no guarentee I won't drink it before I give it to you.

Oh yeah, and 100% of profits go to Friends of Cheyenne Canon. So you’re really doing a public service by drinking this beer.

Doesn’t it feel good to be philanthropic?
